Required Documents for Applicant:
Paralegal Studies Program
- Completed application form
- $35 application fee
- Updated resume or CV.
- Official Transcript(s) from an accredited undergraduate institution. Official academic transcripts for advanced degree programs are not required but strongly recommended as a supplement to your application to help the admissions committee form a complete understanding of your strengths and potential contributions to the program. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
- Send two letters of recommendation. Employment supervisors and academic personnel are strongly recommended. Please note: All recommendations supplied to SCS will be considered confidential. Students wishing to view copies of their recommendations should contact their recommenders directly.
- Personal essay (at least 300 words) in which you describe why you have applied to the Paralegal Studies Program and state your career goals.
- English Proficiency: Coursework at Georgetown University is reading-and-writing intensive and requires superlative command of written and spoken English. All applicants (regardless of citizenship) whose first language is not English are required to complete the TOEFL with minimum scores of 600 (paper-based test), 250 (computer-based test), or 100 (iBT) or the IELTS with a score of 7.5 or higher. Please note: These standards cannot be waived. Students should plan well in advance to complete the necessary tests and allow time for the Admissions Office (institution code 5986) to receive the results. TOEFL scores older than 5 years from the start date of the program will not be accepted.
Certificate in Corporate Executive Leadership, Certificate in Government Executive Leadership:
A complete application must be received to be considered for the program. A complete application consists of the following documents:
- Completed application form
- $35 application fee
- Current resume (no more than two pages) or CV
- Statement of Purpose
- One letter of recommendation from a professional reference
Please note: Admissions decisions are made on a review of a complete application. Your resume, statement of purpose, and letter of recommendation provide the Admissions Committee with an understanding of your background and fit for the program.
Official academic transcripts are not required as part of the application. Certificate in Leadership Coaching
- A completed application form.
- $35 application fee.
- Updated resume or CV.
- Two letters of recommendation in which the recommenders specifically address the following points:
- How you know the applicant.
- The applicant's self-knowledge and capacity for self-reflection and challenging his or her own beliefs.
- The applicant's receptivity to feedback from others.
- The applicant's commitment to his or her own development, with examples.
- The applicant's commitment to the development and growth of others.
- Individual essays in which you address the following questions:
- Why did you choose the Georgetown Leadership Coaching Program and why now?
- What have you learned about yourself in the last three years?
- What activities are you currently engaged in to foster your own development?
- Describe a situation from the past three months when a) you examined or challenged a belief you held; or b) you were open to feedback.
- What's next for you in terms of your personal or professional learning? How do you know that?
- What challenges to completing this program do you anticipate you will have to overcome?
- Use five adjectives to describe yourself.

- The applicant's receptivity to feedback from others.

- The applicant's commitment to the development and growth of others.
- Individual essays in which you address the following questions:
- What are your goals, both personal and professional, in attending this program?
- Describe a recent situation when a) you examined or challenged a belief you held; or b) you were open to feedback. What impact did it have on you?
- What activities have you been engaged in to foster your own personal growth
