Paralegal Seminar

This course provides students with an overview of the fundamentals for success in the paralegal profession and introduces the student to the profession, the relationship of the paralegal with attorneys and the community, the legal and ethical constraints ofthe profession, the American legal system, and practice areas. Students learn what paralegals do in "real life" and are introduced to panels of practicing paralegals and paralegal managers who provide practical advice on how to get hired, and how to thrive and survive in different legal environments. The topics covered in this class include: an overview of the paralegal profession, law library orientation, basic and advanced Lexis and Westlaw research training, a resume writing workshop, a paralegal managers' panel, interview training, and training for the summer internship.
