Course Description:
This course is a survey of financial management topics in the corporate setting. The four broad areas to be covered are:

  • Time value of money
  • Investing
  • Long-term investment decisions
  • Long-term financing decisions

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Describe the principles of financial decision-making such as the Time Value of Money and Net Present Value.
  • Discuss the basic tools of financial management such as diversification and risk management.
  • Calculate Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, Discounted Cash flows, Return on Investment and other common financial metrics.

Course Prerequisites:
Business Accounting (XCPD-033) or equivalent academic coursework in accounting.
