Course Description:
Diversity efforts have had much success in the private sector. However, the public sector lags far behind in developing a comprehensive approach to diversity. This is in large part due to the fact that there is no “business rationale” for diversity in the public sector. There is, however, a value proposition for diversity in the public sector that will allow that sector to learn from the work of the private sector while working within the public domain. Among the topics:
- Value proposition for diversity in the public sector
- Public sector diversity regulations
- Management Directive 715 and its impact on diversity
- Private sector benchmarks: strategies and pitfalls
- Best practices in diversity at the federal, state and local levels
- Future of diversity in the public sector
