Course Description:
The Hotels and Resorts course provides an introduction to these most complex and challenging real estate projects, which provide an exceptionally personal form of real estate service to the business traveler and vacationer seeking respite from workaday cares. And with the arrival of Hilton’s new headquarters in Northern Virginia, the Greater Washington area, long a center of hospitality leadership with the largest hospitality company in the world, Marriott, founded here, we are fast becoming not only the political but the hospitality capital of the world. This course provides special focus upon the real estate development of large-scale hotels and resorts, with their exceptionally complex design, construction, and legal issues. It discusses the distinctive retail needs of hospitality properties. The course discusses hotel management agreements at some length, as well as the law of innkeepers. Finally, the course places strong emphasis upon international hotel and resort development and operations.
