Capstone Course in Emergency Preparedness

The capstone course is the culmination of prior work completed in the EPC Certificate program. The course will be participant-driven as students evaluate two comprehesive case studies of actual emergency preparedness plans, including a full critique and recommendations for each plan. Additionally, students will write a preparedness plan for the organization or agency of their choice that will be peer-reviewed and evaluated by faculty.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Crisis management
  • Legal and jurisdictional issues in emergency management
  • Principles of management
  • Strategic communications planning
  • Threat assessment & risk management
