Introduction to Diversity as Organizational Change

Course Description:
This course provides an introduction to the content and process guiding the work of (internal and external) diversity practitioners.  Linking diversity to organizational change is the process of planning and implementing interventions to create interpersonal, group, intergroup, and/or organization-wide change.  This course presents the theoretical foundations of diversity as organizational change in the context of an applied behavioral science.  Participants will also be introduced to many types of interpersonal, intra-group, intergroup, and organizational interventions that are used to effect comprehensive and lasting changes. 
Participants will:
  • Learn about the theoretical basis for linking diversity and organizational change
  • Develop models for linking diversity and organizational change
  • Understand types of diversity interventions
  • Practice strategic thinking in diversity and organizational change
  • Plan for resistance: Planning and management
