| Course Number: | XCPD-447 |
| Related Programs: | Certificate in Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership |
In this session the students will review the entry and contracting phase of the consulting process and move into the balance of the consulting process steps: organizational assessment and diagnosis, which follows the entry and contacting phase and precedes the planning and implementation phase. When the organizational assessment and diagnosis phase is done well, in collaboration with the client, this phase clearly points the client system and OD practitioner towards an appropriate intervention and change design that will lead to improved organizational effectiveness and facilitate movement towards desired outcomes and expectations.
Objectives of this session include an understanding of “What is data?”, methods of data collection, organizing and analyzing the data, recognizing and dealing with organizational issues, e.g., resistance, and preparing for and delivering a summary of the data to the client in a feedback meeting. Learning is achieved through highly experiential activities and students will have an opportunity to examine their skill level in collecting data and identifying developmental opportunities for improved client interactions.
