Course Description:
This course will study the use of antitrust laws to insure that the market system operates as a level playing field to produce a productive and progressive economic system. It will begin by focusing on the market system and on the three major pillars of American antitrust law. It will examine case law and economic concepts to show the application of these laws to the American economy. The course will address key modern issues relevant to some of the underlying value challenges of the modern era. Special attention will be given to appraising the effectiveness of the remedies in these cases. Discussions will include comparison of the "Chicago" and the "Harvard" schools of antitrust thought.
