Christology and New Physics
| Course Number: | LSHV-486 |
Course Description:
The long debate about whether science needs theology or theology needs science will be focused in this course on some of the findings of the “new” physics and the “the old” Jesus. How might these two be mutually enlightening? The two instructors are Fr. John C. Haughey SJ, a theologian from Georgetown’s Woodstock Theological Center, and Dr. Stephen Paddack, an astrophysicist formerly of NASA and Instructor at the Naval Academy. They have had a long association with one another and bring a history of considerable competence to this question from their respective fields. What these fields have to say to one another has rarely been pursued but is eminently worthy of pursuit. The style of the classes will be a combination of readings discussed, lectures, interaction between the two lecturers and the participation of the class.
