Course Description:

This is a seven-week seminar series that will emphasize the careful and critical evaluation of statistical, research, and ethical methods in grant proposals. Participants will be presented with a series of lectures covering the following topics:

  • Orientation to NIH and Scientific Review & An Overview of K Awards
  • Opportunities through Foundations & Increasing Odds of NIH Funding
  • Opportunities through CTSAs & Guidelines for Establishing Timelines
  • What to Consider When Choosing a Mentor & The Transformation of Ideas into Testable Hypotheses
  • Overcoming Grant Writing Obstacles & Effective Scientific Writing
  • Multi-Disciplinary Research & Roundtable- The Essence of Team Science
  • Budget Preparation and NIH Online Application & The Post-Award Process
