Persuasive Writing
| Course Number: | MPPR-800 |
Course Description:
Students will learn to produce written materials intended to persuade, with special focus on op-eds, speeches, letters to the editor, lobbying packets, Congressional materials, grassroots advocacy materials, and talking points.
Writing instruction will be supported by teaching on creating messaging and positioning for advocacy. Techniques taught are suitable for promoting positions associated with business, government, political campaigns, issue-advocacy organizations, non-profits and others. Significant class time will be devoted to writing in a workshop environment with review by the instructor and other students. Because writing is best learned by doing, students will write and edit in every class.
