Barbara Coons is a senior vice president of StrategyOne and directs the Media and Competitive Intelligence group based in Washington, DC. She has extensive experience in the field of media analysis, competitive intelligence and litigation support research.

Much of her career has been devoted to addressing the informational, analytic, and measurement needs of the Public Relations industry, including media monitoring and analysis, legislative and regulatory monitoring, and in-depth research and analysis of public affairs issues and corporate competitive positioning. Former clients have spanned a wide variety of industry sectors including aviation, electronics, pharmaceuticals, health care, telecommunications and food and nutrition. Non-industry clients have included foreign governments, law firms, and non-profit associations.

Prior to joining StrategyOne, Barbara was a senior managing director and US director of Research Services at Hill and Knowlton. There she directed research and media analysis for clients including Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, the American Chemical Society and MCI. She also once served as the director of Research Services at Gray and Company.

Barbara began her career at the Library of Congress as a research assistant in the American Revolution Bicentennial Office and held several other positions at the Library. While there, she served as president of the Library of Congress Professional Association.

Barbara is a graduate of Stephens College and holds a master’s degree in English History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in Library Science from Catholic University.
