Kathy Baird is a senior vice president with the integrated marketing communications group in the Washington, DC office. At Fleishman-Hillard, she works on a variety of clients including corporate, nonprofit and academic accounts. Her work spans the true sense of integrated communications with a solid foundation in digital strategy, brand development and public relations.

Ms. Baird joined Fleishman-Hillard from Mindshare Interactive Campaigns where she was a vice president, working with clients on a variety of digital activities including corporate and nonprofit online strategy, online fundraising and online public affairs. In addition to her client experience, Ms. Baird worked on new business development and strategic partnerships and alliances for the firm.

Ms. Baird has been in the world of Marketing Communications for nearly 15 years with experience in traditional marketing, interactive marketing, crisis communications and branding. Additional client work includes Easter Seals, Human Rights Campaign, Unicef, Georgetown University, Pfizer and Novartis to name a few. Her work has earned several awards including the American Marketing Association M Award, the Pollie Award, and the Addy Award.

Before working at Mindshare Interactive Campaigns, Ms. Baird held positions at several telecommunications companies including MCI, WorldCom and UUNET where she managed and executed large scale branding and online marketing programs including the management of crisis communications through the Internet during the WorldCom bankruptcy, the development of corporate web strategy, e-commerce and online account management, as well as several large corporate rebranding initiatives including the rebrand of WorldCom to MCI post-bankruptcy. Additionally, Ms. Baird managed marketing communications efforts at WorldSpace Satellite Radio, overseeing the redesign and launch of the company’s Web site in 1998, and launching WorldSpace’s first global e-commerce store.

A native of South Dakota and a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of Indians, Ms. Baird began her career in 1989 with the Bureau of Indian Affairs developing tourism and economic development programs for Native American tribes. Ms. Baird led the Agency’s first implementation of a computerized filing system.

Ms. Baird holds a B.A. in Political Science from The George Washington University and an International Executive MBA from Georgetown University. She also studied Theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
