Frank Walter has more than 20 years of communications and media relations experience, including work in corporate, agency, public affairs, and non-profit sectors. He currently is an independent communications consultant working with renewable energy, environmental, and nonprofit clients.

From December 2006 to June 2008, he served as director of marketing and public relations for Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the nation's oldest and largest children's literacy organization. While at RIF, he created and launched the award-winning RIF Multicultural Literacy Campaign--a research-based public education effort to promote early childhood literacy in the African-American, Hispanic, and Native American communities through public service announcements, media partnerships, earned media, online outreach, and event promotions. He also placed RIF's CEO on NBC's Today Show and secured a feature on the organization in USA Today.

Prior to joining RIF, Walter managed his own communications consulting practice, Impala Communications, for six years in Washington. He orchestrated the media relations program for the national launch of the Plug-in Partners Campaign to promote hybrid-electric vehicles, and helped a range of technology and nonprofit organizations gain valuable media coverage in such outlets as the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Financial Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Associated Press, CNN, Fox News, and online outlets.

He worked nine years for MCI, serving as vice president of public relations and as chief spokesman for the company during two global merger announcements, alliance announcements with Microsoft, Intel, and News Corporation, expansion into Mexico, Canada, Brazil, and Japan, and during a range of crisis situations. He also directed the successful launch and positioning of the company's Internet services to consumer, business, and government customers.

He has conducted media training, messaging, and public speaking workshops for senior executives of Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, and nonprofit organizations.
