Joe Steller

Mr. Steller is a seasoned real estate professional with a design and urban planning background. He has represented owner and stakeholder interests in program, project and portfolio development for private national and international investors and public, non-profit and institutional clients. He has worked in diverse organizations from a US Fortune 50 company and a small UK sole proprietorship in the private sector to a large state agency in the public sector as well as for non profits. For over 11 years, he directed regional or US operations as sole corporate officer based in Washington, DC for national and international real estate owners. This experience has resulted in:
  • Over 3.5 million square feet of quality real estate development in new or renovated buildings that have received national and regional awards, including the Newseum on Pennsylvania Avenue and other premier projects in the Washington, DC region;
  • Central Office of Real Estate in the of the Maryland Department of Transportation reporting to the Secretary enhancing state real property assets, economic development and transit-oriented Smart Growth projects;
  • 8 guidelines for achieving reliable performance of utility and transportation systems in natural hazards and man-made threat events through public-private partnership;
  • Master plans, strategies and recommendations that have guided development and reinvestment in over 15 U.S. communities;
  • Formulation of two 501(c) 3 nonprofits, one preserves forest and farmland in critical urban growth area and another preserves region's historic architectural heritage; and
  • Over 80 professional publications which have positively guided industry best products and practices and influenced US land development.

He is a registered architect with a bachelor of architecture degree with honors from Kent State University and a master of city planning degree in urban design from Harvard University. He is a Counselor of Real Estate, a professional designation held by 1,100 practitioners throughout the world that are recognized for highest standards of service and responsibility, demonstrating integrity, judgment, and mastery of industry knowledge. He also is a member of the Urban Land Institute and Lambda Alpha International (a land economics honorary) as well as a founding board member of the American Chestnut Land Trust.



Michael Horst

Michael Horst is the Senior Resident Fellow for Leadership at the Urban Land Institute, a Washington DC based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.  Prior the this assignment he was a Senior Vice President where, for a decade,  he oversaw ULI's District Council Program, providing leadership, vision, and strategic planning for the 51 North American District Councils and a growing number of start ups around the world. The District Councils are the "delivery system" for ULI's policy and practice agenda, providing an opportunity for the Institute's 33,000+ members to be responsible leaders in the communities in which they live and work. 


Since beginning his career in 1970, he has also been a real estate consultant, educator and developer.  His consulting career included senior positions with Economics Research Associates, PBR, EDAW and INTRA (International Tourism and Resort Advisors) and his clients included organizations such as the Walt Disney Company, Caterpillar, Hillwood Development, and the St. Joe Company, and not-for-profits like the Rocky Mountain Institute, California Center for Land Recycling and Habitat for Humanity.  He has created and taught multi-disciplinary classes at Harvard, UC Berkeley, UCLA and the University of Southern California.  He was also co-founder of Shenoa Retreat and Learning Center, an eco-resort in Northern California demonstrating ecologic, economic and community sustainability and innovative building and financing technologies such as straw bale construction and the Land Stewardship program.  Throughout his career he has been an active participant as a full member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), serving as co-founder and Vice Chair of the Sustainable Development Council and as Vice Chair of the Program Committee. He is also a Governor (Developer level) of the ULI Foundation. He has a BA degree in economics from University of California Santa Barbara (1967), an MBA from Stanford University (1969) and was a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Design School (1982).  He serves on the Alumni Council of the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the Loeb Fellowship Alumni Council. Shalinder Singh

Shalinder Singh, CHA (Certified Hotel Administrator) is the Vice President of New Hotel Openings for PM Hospitality Strategies, Inc. (PMHS).  In this role Shalinder is responsible for all PMHS new hotel openings, renovations and transitions. This involves developing budgets; ensuring compliance with brand standards, reviewing and commenting on design and architectural plans along with putting together a pre-opening team to ensure the operational readiness of hotel properties prior to opening while monitoring and supporting the hotel management through the stabilization period.

He also works with the EVP of Operations on existing hotels in areas of brand standards compliance, standard operating procedures, E-Distribution, Revenue Management and various performance matrices analysis.

Shalinder brings over fifteen years of hotel operations experience with a majority of this time spent in Food and Beverage and Rooms Division.  His in-depth and hands on experience in managing all areas in Food and Beverage, including Room Service, Butler Service, three meal restaurant, specialty restaurant and banquets, and Front Office Operations in some of the leading business hotels of the world greatly enhances PMHS Support Center team.  Since joining PMHS as Assistant Director of Operations, Shalinder has been involved in all new PMHS hotel openings from 2005, held General Manager & Regional VP positions of various hotels and worked on the smooth transition and renovation of all BPG/PMHS acquisitions.

Shalinder's breadth of international experience involves working for some of the foremost companies in hospitality including Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and IDeaS Revenue Management in areas of Operations, E-Distribution, Finance and Revenue Management.

Shalinder completed his undergraduate degree in Hotel Administration from the Institute of Hotel Management, Delhi, India.  He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Delhi University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management from The Oberoi Center of Learning and Development, India. 

Shalinder earned his graduate degree, Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.  Since graduation, he has not only spoken in various classes at the Hotel School but has also been invited to mentor graduate students.  Furthermore, he serves as Vice President for Cornell Hotel Society Washington D.C. / Baltimore Chapter.



Jeffrey Miller

Jeffrey Miller is the founder and Managing Principal of Prospect Diversified Development and Investment Companies, LLC, a multifamily development and investment firm in Washington, DC. He has over 16 years of commercial and residential real estate experience in development, finance, marketing and operations. Previously, Jeff ran the east coast multifamily development group of both the Trammell Crow Company and Lowe Enterprises.  Jeff began his development career at the Holladay Group, developing multi-family condominium and townhouse communities. Jeff then joined JBG Companies as a Senior Vice President, where he developed over 3,000 urban mixed-use communities in the metropolitan Washington area.  Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Lafayette College and an Master of Business Administration from Rice University.
