A seasoned professional in the fields of public relations, event planning and marketing communications, Steve Winter oversees a team of public relations, marketing, special events, social media and advertising professionals and support staff for Brotman-Winter-Fried, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Safe Communications. As President and Chief Operating Officer of BWF since its inception in 1982, he has been the driving force behind the company, guiding the overall direction of the firm and its approach to handling specific clients. In a managerial capacity, Steve spearheads several of BWF’s participatory sports events including hockey, rugby and soccer tournaments and also manages the company’s new product introduction/industry trade show division. He is also the chief proposal writer and spearheads many of the company’s government relations projects including management of the agency’s Montgomery County recycling campaign. Prior to assuming his present position with Sage, Steve served for 20 years as President of BWF Communications and 11 years as a managing partner of Winter-Fried Communications, which merged, in September 1992, with the firm of Charles J. Brotman & Associates to form BWF. Steve started his career as an account executive for Brotman & Associates, which he joined just three months after graduating from American University in the spring of 1977 with a degree in Journalism. While at American, Steve was sports editor of the school newspaper and also served as the public relations director for the school’s club football team. He continues to write for and edit several publications, blogs and websites.
