Joan E. Cook, S.C. has served on the faculties of St. Bonaventure University, Washington Theological Union, and Georgetown University. She is the author of Hannah’s Desire, God’s Design: Early Interpretations of the Story of Hannah (Sheffield Press, 1999); Hear O Heavens and Listen O Earth: An Introduction to the Prophets (Liturgical Press, 2006); and Genesis in the New Collegeville Bible Commentary series (Liturgical Press, 2011) as well as articles on biblical prayer and biblical women. She is currently President of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati.

Alan C. Mitchell has been the Director of the Summer Institute on Sacred Scripture since 2000, and is Associate Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Georgetown University. He is the author of Hebrews in the Sacra Pagina series (Liturgical Press, 2007), which won a second place 2008 Catholic Press Association Book Award in Scripture.
