Internships

Intern in Washington, D.C.

Capitalizing on Georgetown’s expansive partnership network and the abundance of career opportunities available in the nation’s capital, the Semester in Washington, D.C. Program provides students with unparalleled internship experiences at some of the city’s most prestigious organizations.

Upon enrolling in the program, students receive access to an internship database, which features an extensive network of organizations offering internship positions. Additionally, Georgetown pairs each student with an internship advisor, who offers guidance throughout the search and selection process, ranging from helping students develop a strong resume to preparing them for interviews. Students are encouraged to secure their internship as early as possible prior to the start of the semester, as both the demand and competition for D.C. internships are high.

Throughout the semester, students spend several days per week at their internship, not only building valuable skills that prepare them for post-graduate success, but also gaining a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of one of D.C.’s distinct organizations. Georgetown offers a wide range of internship opportunities in D.C., including federal agencies, law firms, news organizations, nonprofits, and public relations agencies.

The internship component of SWP varies slightly depending on a student’s semester of enrollment:
