German Language Institute
Throughout the German Institute, you will practice the German language and explore the German culture. Classes are small and you will benefit from individual attention inside and outside the classroom. You will learn from the most experienced, dedicated, and diverse faculty, who use current techniques and incorporate technology-based instruction.
Courses are supplemented with experiential activities to expose students to the culture and history of Germany outside the classroom, which might include the following:
- Converse with other students and faculty over coffee during our Kaffeeklatsch. This regularly scheduled activity promotes conversational German.
- Explore Washington's German institutions, including the Goethe-Institut and the German Embassy.
- Learn from real-time and on-demand current media resources as well as the latest classroom language learning technology in the CNDLS Language Lab.
Language Course Offerings
Course offerings range from Introductory German to Intermediate German in both intensive and non-intensive formats. Students will learn about the culture and practical usage of the language in courses like Business in Germany and Gateway: Witches. Please note that Gateway: Witches fulfills the second course of the College Humanities/Writing requirement and the English Department Gateway requirement.
