Nicole Cardello Deziel (Ph.D., MHS) is a Senior Environmental Health Scientist and Study Director at Westat, a health research company in Rockville, MD. Dr. Deziel received her Doctor of Philosophy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. She obtained her Master of Health Science from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and her Bachelors of Science in Public Health from the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has held research positions at Johns Hopkins and the Environmental Protection Agency. This is the second year Dr. Deziel is teaching Environmental Health. Prior to that, she assisted teaching an Environmental Health course at Johns Hopkins for three terms. She has also been a guest lecturer at Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland. Dr. Deziel has several research interests, including assessment of dietary exposure to carcinogens and evaluation of children’s exposure to environmental chemicals. She served on the EPA’s Voluntary Children’s Chemical Evaluation Program Peer Consultation Panel as well as an expert panel at an EPA workshop on Characterizing and Presenting Chemical Exposure Assessment Results.
