Who should apply?

The master's in Applied Intelligence is designed for those who are looking to enter into or advance within careers in applied intelligence, homeland security, law enforcement, or commercial career paths, as well as professionals whose agencies or clientele are charged with the interpretation of analytic work products.

Where are classes held?

Classes are offered both on campus and online. Online classes occur in a virtual setting, while on-campus classes are held at the SCS downtown campus, located at 640 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. This 91,000 square foot campus offers a state-of-the-art learning environment designed to foster collaboration between students, faculty, and staff.

Conveniently located in the vibrant, Metro-accessible downtown Gallery Place/Chinatown neighborhood, the campus is in close proximity to the National Mall and countless other D.C. landmarks and institutions. Additionally, this central location provides unparalleled opportunities for professional development, internships, and networking, as well as cultural activities and events.

Do you offer any online classes?

Courses in this program are offered in both on-campus and online formats. Students also have the option to take courses through a combination of both formats. While online versions will be available for all of the program’s required courses, some elective courses may not be offered in the online format.

What concentrations does the program offer?

The program also offers three concentrations, enabling students to hone their skills in a particular area within the intelligence field. Concentrations include homeland security, competitive business intelligence, and law enforcement intelligence.

How do I choose a concentration?

Students submit the Declaration of Concentration form in their final semester before graduation. The program verifies that students have completed the required courses for the Concentration and forwards it to the Office of Academic Affairs & Compliance for processing.

What is the timeline for graduation?

Typically, part-time students finish the program in about two years, and students who participate in the program full-time can finish in four semesters (16 months).

How many students are in each class?

Classes are typically limited to 20–25 students.
