Message from the Director of Liberal Studies Graduate Programs

Georgetown University's Doctor of Liberal Studies program features an interdisciplinary curriculum rooted in human values and ethics. The program provides students with skills in perception, analysis, communications, and creative thinking, and teaches them how to successfully apply these skills throughout their time in the program and beyond. Courses span broad areas of the humanities, social and public policy, international affairs, religious studies, and the intersection of science, technology, and culture. Housed on Georgetown's main campus, this unique doctoral program offers small class sizes and specialized faculty attention. Two characteristics make this degree distinctive: its interdisciplinarity and its values basis.

Georgetown was the first university to offer a Doctor of Liberal Studies degree, and now, over a decade later, we have graduates who have published books, joined academia, and experienced other professional and personal successes. We welcome your interest in this innovative graduate program.
