National Recognition
The MPS program in Public Relations and Corporate Communications was named a finalist for PRWeek's Education Program of the Year award
Georgetown’s Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Public Relations and Corporate Communications program was recently recognized by PRWeek as a finalist for the 2009 Education Program of the Year award. This award recognizes achievement in lesson plans that educate the next crop of public relations professionals. Entries were judged based on the ability of professors to use both real-world case studies and instructive scenarios to educate students about new media, media relations, crisis communications, and other tactics.
PRWeek is the industry’s leading trade magazine, and the PRWeek Awards are recognized as one of the industry’s highest honors. It is a great achievement for the MPS program in Public Relations and Corporate Communications to receive national recognition less than two years since it was launched, and the honor solidifies its position as a preeminent program in the academic and professional landscape.
The MPS in Public Relations and Corporate Communications team, along with six students, attended the awards gala held at Tavern on the Green in New York City on March 5, 2009. Denise Keyes, associate dean of the program, says “Although we didn't take home the award this year, we are proud to be recognized among the top five PR education programs in the U.S. and look forward to many wins in the future.”
