Performing arts events in collaboration with Synetic Theater in Rosslyn.
Graduate Liberal Studies will resume the collaboration it began last season with the Synetic Theater. The theater has again arranged for those associated with Liberal Studies to obtain discount tickets for specific performances that will then feature a panel afterwards, including Georgetown faculty, to discuss the play. Dean Tambasco will serve as moderator for these panels. Mark the dates on your calendar and watch for details before each performance.
October 2: A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Joan Holmer, English Dept.
November 1 matinee: Dracula – Tod Linafelt, Theology Dept.
February 5 (at Lansburg Theater): Antony and Cleopatra – Josiah Osgood, Classics Dept.
April 16: Metamorphosis – Bud Ruf, Theology Dept.
Date to be determined: Othello (at the Kennedy Center)
Arrangements are in place for the first two plays. (Antony and Othello may run slightly differently as they are at different venues.) For Georgetown Student Discounts, students can visit the website www.synetictheater.org, click on tickets, scroll down to Midsummer or Dracula, and, if they purchase tickets for October 2nd or November 1st, they will see an option that says “Georgetown Liberal Studies—ID Required” for a special $13 ticket (regular ticket price is $45). Students can also call 1-800-494-8497 to purchase over the phone. Students can use their present go-card for identification, and alumni can present a copy of their diploma or some other indication of their affiliation with Liberal Studies.
