Description:
According to the Financial Times, a recent survey by the Economic Intelligence Unit uncovered increasing fraud in five industry sectors, led by financial services. Fraud risk is becoming more prevalent as corporate and government organizations face changing economic, regulatory, and competitive challenges across industries and countries.
This program is designed to help professionals develop expertise and competency in the area of forensic accounting examinations. The certificate will concentrate on the core skills required to identify and detect fraud. Classes survey fraud schemes and address fraudulent financial reporting, misappropriation of assets, and corruption. Students will learn how to develop evidence to support a fraud case through litigation support and expert testimony techniques.
Georgetown University is an education member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Format:
The certificate program will require 63 hours of contact (classroom) hours, and will comprise seven courses. The Principles of Forensic Examination is the recommended first class, however students may take any class. The classes will be taught in three hour sessions and will aggregate nine hours each. Some courses will take place on weeknights between 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, while other courses will take place on a Saturday between 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
Program Prerequisites:
A bachelor's degree and TOEFL examination for non-native speakers of English.

This certificate is an open enrollment program. You may register for individual courses by clicking on the course links below. No application is required.
Certificate Requirements:
Successful completion of the seven required courses is required to receive a certificate in Forensic Accounting.

Students are strongly recommended to purchase Principles of Fraud Examination (ISBN-13: 978-0-470-12883-1). The book is available through online booksellers.
