Experiment with diverse types of creative writing, including personal narrative, the short story, fantasy, and poetry, while learning how to polish and publish your original work. Draw inspiration from English professors and great writers, both from Georgetown and the local Washington, DC region as you explore DC's lively literary culture.

Hands-on Experience*
- Participate in writing workshops
- Awaken your powers of observation, imagination, and description
- Learn concrete elements of the craft of writing in daily workshops
- Attend readings from published authors, who will lead interactive classes and conduct group discussions
- Work with Georgetown's expert creative writing faculty to bring out your most creative ideas
- Read excerpts from award-winning works and use them to develop your own original works
- Visit local monuments, world-renowned theatres, museums, and literary organizations
- Take part in peer critiques; learn to revise and refine your writing
- Go to readings by great contemporary authors, poetry slams, and other literacy events
- Learn how to publish your own work
