Program Overview

For over 10 years, the Georgetown University Center for Continuing & Professional Education has offered the Certificate in Financial Planning program in collaboration with Kaplan Schweser. Taught by renowned faculty and experienced practitioners, the program requires nine months of rigorous part-time study in financial planning fundamentals, investments, taxation, retirement, estate planning, and ethics. The program concludes with a comprehensive client case study intended to prepare graduates for real-world client interaction.

Georgetown University is registered with Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards Inc. to fulfill the education requirements of the CFP® certification. In addition, the Georgetown University Center for Continuing and Professional Education is an educational affiliate of the Financial Planning Association National Capital Area Chapter. With over 1,500 program alumni working in financial services both within and outside the DC Metro region, the program is one of the premier programs for professionals in the region seeking to advance or change careers, or those seeking financial acumen to manage their own assets.
