As more work becomes project-based, projects grow in complexity, and clients demand accountability and efficiency, professionals with project management skills have become highly sought after. Georgetown University offers a distinctive program in project management that helps professionals become more accomplished, qualified, and effective managers in their fields. While the Certificate in Project Management is built on the core processes defined in the Project Management Institute, A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) - Fifth Edition, Project Management Institute, Inc., 2013, the program strongly emphasizes the people skills and real-world practices required to successfully manage projects on time, on budget, and within scope.
Taught by practitioners and academics with extensive industry experience, participants gain analytical frameworks, strategic planning skills, and managerial insight to be more effective project leaders. The program also addresses the role of the project manager in cultivating and supporting innovation in project teams.
Participants who successfully complete the program will:

Career & Industry Outlook
Demand for professionals with project management skills has increased dramatically in the last decade with continued growth expected, according to the Project Management Institute (PMI)®. PMI also expects strong salary growth, though salaries and growth expectations vary depending on industry, experience, and location. The 8th Annual Project Management Salary Survey conducted by PMI found that PMP® credential holders can earn upward of US$15,000 more than non-credential holders in many countries. To receive the Certificate in Project Management from Georgetown University, students must successfully complete four (4) required courses and two (2) elective courses for a total of 8.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), which is equivalent to 80.0 contact hours. Students must complete the program within a two-year time period.
Participants must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree or the equivalent. A TOEFL examination for non-native speakers of English is not required but students are expected to read, write and comprehend English at the graduate level to fully participate in and gain from the program. Any requests for exceptions to these requirements must be made in writing to the program director at CCPE.
Program Format & Schedule
Courses meet Friday evenings and Saturdays. Occasionally, courses may meet on weekdays during the day or evening. Generally, all courses are offered each semester, though some courses may be available in the spring or fall semester only. Refer to individual course pages below for schedules.
Students are required to first complete the course Project Management Fundamentals (XCPD-480) and are strongly encouraged to register for Managing Projects in the Real World (XPRM-503) as the final course.
In addition to the weekend schedule, the program is also offered as a two-week intensive program.
Most course materials are included in the cost of tuition. Course materials will be distributed in digital format and accessible through Blackboard, Georgetown's learning management system. Students must have a laptop or tablet computer to access course materials.
Tuition varies by course. Please click on the course links below for individual course tuition. Total program tuition for six courses is $6,570.00. Students can register for all six courses at once or register for courses individually. Withdrawals and refunds are processed based on the Withdrawal and Refund Policy.
The program also qualifies for Veterans Affairs Benefits for eligible students.
This certificate is an open enrollment program. No application is required and registration is available by clicking the course links below. Current students must register with their Georgetown NetID and password. New students must first create an account and password through the Student Portal prior to registration. After your account is created, you will receive a Georgetown NetID via email. When you have your Georgetown NetID and password, continue registration by clicking "Add to Cart" on the course registration page, logging in, and following the steps to complete checkout. Course registration is complete when payment is processed and you receive a confirmation email.
Non-credit professional certificate programs are classified as part-time education programs. As a result, Georgetown University cannot sponsor international students for student visas (F-1) to enroll in certificate programs. However, prospective international students who enter the U.S. on a valid visa are eligible to enroll in courses.
