What is an interesting trend emerging in your field?
One trend I see, that I am not sure is positive, is the overwhelming proliferation of various social digital platforms. It is getting to the point where you could spend an entire work day simply checking various social feeds and, indeed, some people do that for a living. I think this trend, overall, has made us less thorough as communicators, picking the quick tweet and attention over the thoughtful op-ed or media statement. The current media space rewards speed, not accuracy, and virality over quality content.

How do you give back?
Prior to beginning the SCS PRCC program, I tutored adults attempting to complete their GEDs through an organization called Academy for Hope. In addition, I try to take every opportunity to mentor junior staffers on the Hill, whether within our office or other offices, to impart some knowledge about how to be successful in our line of work.
