The Summer 2017 application for College Credit Courses is now closed. Summer 2018 applications will open in November 2017.

This summer, take an in-depth look at an area of interest while earning college credit. Georgetown’s college credit courses cover a diverse range of subjects and span from introductory Fundamentals courses to the advanced Summer Honors Intensive program. Take classes alongside current Georgetown undergraduate students, learn from world-renowned faculty, and engage in challenging coursework that will prepare you for college success.

Georgetown offers two 5-week, on-campus sessions and one 8-week, online cross session in the summer. For the Fundamentals and Summer College courses, students can take up to one class per session for a total of 6 credits. Students seeking a more rigorous curriculum have the opportunity to take up to 12 credits through the Summer Honors Intensive program.

As a student in one of our 5-week, on-campus sessions, you will also have the opportunity to attend co-curricular evening programming, such as lecture series and mini courses, as well as Residential Living programs, which include social events and weekend off-site trips. During the day, you will attend lectures, work on projects, or prepare for exams, while in the evenings, the high school community comes together for cultural exploration and socializing—all critical components to the college experience.

Fundamental/Intro Courses

These introductory, on-campus courses offer the opportunity to explore a specific subject area in a comprehensive, five-week undergraduate course. A strong fit for high school students, the Fundamentals Courses provide a seamless transition into the college learning environment through a blend of lectures, class discussions, and hands-on application.

Highly motivated high school students who are seeking a rigorous academic experience are encouraged to take two courses per session. Over the course of the 10-week summer, you will have the opportunity to enroll in up to four college courses, earning up to 12 college credits (a full semester at most universities). Those who complete two courses in a session will receive a Summer Honors Intensive Certificate upon completing their studies.

Online Courses

online courses

We now offer select courses online. These online courses are designed and taught by Georgetown’s faculty members, in consultation with Georgetown’s Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS). They feature the same content and objectives as on-campus courses. The courses are thought-provoking and academically rigorous, and  the online format allows for high school students to have a Georgetown University, academic experience where they live.
