David Jones, Capstone Director
During a 40-year journalism career, David Jones has been based on four continents and reported from more than 30 countries.
He began his career in Toronto, Canada, with United Press International, which subsequently posted him to Washington, Hong Kong, Manila, Nairobi and finally London, where he directed UPI’s coverage of the collapse of communism in Europe. Returning to Washington, he spent the better part of 20 years as foreign editor at The Washington Times, traveling widely to major world capitals and remote locations ranging from Tibet to Nicaragua. He is currently employed as deputy managing editor in the News Division at Voice of America. David is a graduate of Columbia University and lives with his wife in southern Maryland.
