Alisa Parenti, a digital correspondent at MarketWatch Radio Network and a Georgetown SCS faculty member in the Master’s in Journalism and Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies programs, recently received an Excellence in Personal Finance Reporting award by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE).
According to the announcement, Parenti won in the radio category for “outstanding work” on a piece entitled “Housing on Fire: Tips for Buyers and Sellers” that provides practical advice for the upcoming real estate boom.
In addition to a cash prize, she has been invited to speak at the Excellence in Journalism 2014 conference this September in Nashville.
Parenti was also the recipient of the 2011 Outstanding Faculty award for the Master’s in Journalism program, where she taught courses on news writing, reporting, and digital news-gathering for three years. This fall term, she will be teaching a course on storytelling for students in the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies program.
