Alpha Sigma Lambda Induction Ceremony

11 Mar 7am-12pm

10 Mar 7am-12pm

For the past 25 years, the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree program has honored its best and brightest students by inducting them into the Alpha Sigma Lambda national honor society of continuing education. The society recognizes the special achievements of adult learners who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of home and work.

This spring is no exception as Associate Dean Vincent Kiernan, the Gamma Tau Chapter's National Councilor and Initiator, along with the School of Continuing Studies faculty and staff welcome nine new students into the hallowed ranks of ASL. In addition to overall academic excellence, to qualify for an invitation to membership, students must have a cumulative GPA of3.5 or higher and at least 90 completed credits, 30 of which have been earned at Georgetown University.

Additionally, it has been the tradition of the Gamma Tau Chapter to honor one outstanding faculty member with honorary membership into the society. This year, the degree program recognized Dr. Christopher Shinn.

This year's induction ceremony, where students and honorary faculty will be formally sworn in, will be held at the new SCS Downtown Campus, at 640 Massachusetts Ave NW Washington, DC 20001. Program Alumna, friends, family, and fellow BALS program students are invited to attend a ceremony in celebration of this achievement.

The 2014 ASL inductees are as follows:

Johnny Jones

Andrea Joslyn

Andrew Paulson

Joseph Perez

Andrew Poliakoff

Michael Saleh

Thomas Schwartz

Courtney Stecker '13 also qualified before graduating in December and will be inducted.
