On November 5, The Associated Press will declare winners in a wide multitude of races, from the White House all the way down to state legislatures. But others, including the presidency, may have to wait until additional votes are counted.
Calling races is a role the AP first took on in 1848, amassing an impressive record of accuracy in the years since. It’s a painstaking process that takes months of preparation and hundreds of staffers from across the news organization.
Come hear from AP Decision Desk editors Stephen Ohlemacher and Journalism faculty member Chad Day about how it’s done.
Hosted by the Master's in Journalism program at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.
