Jenny Schuetz

Jenny Schuetz serves on the faculty of the Urban & Regional Planning program and holds the position of millennial scholar in the Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution.

An urban economist with extensive research experience in the public and private sectors, Schuetz has written numerous journal articles related to housing policy, land use regulation, urban retail patterns, and neighborhood change. Prior to joining Brookings, she served as senior economist in the Division of Consumer and Community Affairs at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. 

Schuetz is a distinguished speaker and educator and recipient of the Urban & Regional Planning program’s Outstanding Faculty prize. Prior to teaching at Georgetown University, she taught at the University of Southern California and at City College of New York, and was a post-doctoral fellow at New York University.

She holds a Doctorate of Public Policy from Harvard University, a Master of City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. with highest distinction in Economics and Political & Social Thought from the University of Virginia.
