Mission Statement

Georgetown University’s MPS in Sports Industry Management provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the sports industry through a practical and experiential learning model grounded in the principles of responsibility, ethics, and service. Students engage with a faculty of experienced practitioners to develop the business management and leadership skills they need for a successful and impactful career in the global sports industry.

Learning Goals

Upon successfully completing the MPS in Sports Industry Management with a concentration in Business, Management, & Operations, you will:

  • Commit to a set of personal ethical principles in relation to professional codes of conduct and best practices
  • Develop a functional knowledge of finance, law, event and venue management, and economics within the sports industry
  • Be able to employ analytical and planning tools to execute strategies that maximize profitability and productivity
  • Examine and appreciate issues of ethnicity, gender, and international scope in relation to the modern sports world
  • Develop strategies to handle management issues and organizational behavior in the industry

Upon successfully completing the MPS in Sports Industry Management with a concentration in Strategic Marketing, Communications, & Digital Media, you will:

  • Commit to a set of personal ethical principles in relation to professional codes of conduct and best practices
  • Develop expertise in promoting and selling the sports industry and its different, related elements
  • Understand how media organizations work and facilitate the delivery of content
  • Be able to develop marketing strategies by leveraging brands, databases, the internet, market research, and technology
  • Examine and appreciate issues of ethnicity, gender, and international scope in relation to the modern sports world
  • Develop strategies to handle management issues and organizational behavior in the industry
