Georgetown’s Executive Master of Professional Studies in Emergency & Disaster Management prepares you to plan for, manage, and respond to today’s increasingly complex disasters.

Designed for experienced emergency management leaders and practitioners, and others in closely related fields, our cohort-based program emphasizes the strategic mindset and critical thinking skills that position you for success. You'll have the opportunity to connect with other senior-level professionals, enhance your leadership skills, and gain a broader understanding of emergency management through the application of U.S. frameworks—all without interrupting your career.

Through a blend of online learning and on-site residencies, our program exposes you to some of today’s most critical threats. You’ll complete one-week residencies around the world, where you’ll tackle challenges such as foreign disaster aid, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction, natural disasters, and humanitarian crises.

In between residencies, you’ll learn through a combination of real-time lectures, online coursework, and group discussions. This component of the program is entirely virtual, so you can complete your studies from the comfort of your home or office.

Capitalizing on Georgetown’s expansive global network, our program offers access to some of the field’s leading experts, organizations, and facilities. You’ll engage with a faculty of seasoned academics and practitioners while mastering the cutting-edge tools, technologies, and practices that empower you to perform at a high level in this complex and demanding field.

You’ll examine the ethical foundations of emergency management while understanding how to responsibly support response, relief, and recovery efforts.
