Michael Spead (PMP, CSM, CSPO, ITIL, and SSGB) has over 15 years of experience transforming organizational strategies and objectives into actionable projects / programs / portfolios that achieve sustainable and measurable results for commercial, non-profit, and government entities. Mr. Spead supports the development and management of project management offices, leveraging a variety of methodologies, including PMBOK and Agile.
Mr. Spead provides education, coaching, and mentoring at all levels, including project/program/portfolio management, business process engineering, risk management, quality management, and change management. Prior to teaching at Georgetown, Mr. Spead taught for the University of Maryland University College (UMUC).
Currently, Mr. Spead is the Director of Project Management at a large, global consulting firm, where he supports the evolution of the corporate back-office (people, processes, and systems) to drive efficiency and continued growth. In this role, Michael designs and directs strategic initiatives to improve the executive management, accounting/finance, human capital, information technology, and marketing/business development functions.
An active volunteer in the PMIWDC Chapter, Michael serves as the Vice President of Higher Education, where he supports the advancement of project management as a body of knowledge and profession in both the higher education and K-12 education. Mr. Spead supports a variety of programs (e.g. University PM Talks, Enactus, PMDoS, Future Cities). He also supports Project Managers for Change (PM4C), as the Vice President of Continuous Value Delivery.
He holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from the George Washington University in Finance and International Finance, a Master’s in Business Administration from George Mason University in Project Management, and a Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America.
