Evan has two decades’ experience helping non-profits activate, engage and retain cause-based audiences.
He is a Lecturer and a Fellow at Georgetown University, where he specializes in the drivers of non-profit support and how to best activate audiences to support causes and non-profits. His fellowship, "Altruism, Empathy, and Efficacy: The Science Behind Engaging Supporters" can be downloaded from Georgetown’s Center for Social Impact Communication’s website.
In his spare time, Evan is the Senior Vice President of Clients and Accounts for EveryAction/NGP VAN, where helps nonprofit and progressive political clients get the most out of their fundraising, organizing, advocacy, and constituent management platforms.
Previously, Evan helped head up Freeflow Digital, a strategic technology B corp focused on providing data-driven technology for non-profits. He also led PR-firm Brodeur Partners’ integrated non-profit fundraising and communications practice.
Evan started his career doing online communications for then Congressman Bernie Sanders, and spent seven years leading The Nature Conservancy’s integrated donor engagement practice where he served as the organization’s chief technologist for digital fundraising, engagement, and database integration. He also spent four years directing digital advocacy and constituent campaigns at Carol | Trevelyan Strategy Group, a progressive political consulting firm in the District.
Evan is a regular speaker at prominent forums in the area of online engagement and conversion including the Direct Marketing Association, the Association for Fundraising Professionals, The Foundation Center, and the Nonprofit Technology Community (NTEN).
