In Georgetown's Medical Immersion, you'll get a snapshot of a first-year medical school curriculum while exploring topics ranging from neuroscience and pathology to anatomy, immunity, cardiology, and endocrinology. Over the course of the program, you'll have opportunities to gain hands-on practice through lab work and field work, including human cadaveric dissections, patient case studies and simulations, and blood pressure testing. You'll leave the program with a deeper understanding of the world of medicine, as well as the tools that prepare you to pursue medical school.

Program Format & Subject Areas

As a student in the Medical Immersion, you'll spend your time engaged in a combination of class sessions, field trips, hands-on workshops, group discussions, and extracurricular activities. Throughout the course of the program, you'll have the opportunity to explore subject areas including:

  • Gastrointestinal and renal systems
  • Brain anatomy
  • Neural processes
  • Cardiology
  • Respiratory functions
  • Immunology

  • Organs and Body Cavities


During the Medical Immersion, you'll visit the Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. In order to attend this off-site visit, you must complete the Shock Trauma Center Consent Form and submit it as an attachment when uploading your Campus Life Forms.
