I am the national immigration and Homeland Security beat reporter for The Associated Press in Washington.
Prior to joining the national staff, I spent just over five years working as the AP's correspondent in El Paso, Texas, covering immigration, the Mexican drug cartel war, the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss and college sports. I started my career as a newspaper reporter covering suburban police departments in the counties surrounding Philadelphia for The Philadelphia Inquirer before joining the staff of the Orlando Sentinel as a crime reporter.
