How to Register

Please review the refund policies in our Student Handbook before completing your registration.

How to Register

This is an open-enrollment program. No application is required, but you must take an English proficiency assessment to determine the best course section for your skill level. To register, select the course section that you believe best represents you English language proficiency, click on the program link to view additional course details, and then click the "Add to Cart" button when you're ready to pay for your course registration.

Course registration is complete when your payment is processed. You will receive a confirmation email when your payment is received. Please retain the payment confirmation message for your records.

Class Dates

  • Classes begin September 17, 18, and 22
  • Classes end November 15, 17, and 19

Required Language Proficiency Testing

Our enrollment management team will contact you to schedule your assessment test. Testing takes place at Georgetown University’s main campus prior to class start dates. Faculty from the English Language Center will carefully review your results and place you in the best course(s) for your skill level.

Course Offerings

Integrated Communication Skills

Practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English to improve your ability to communicate in real-world situations.
3.6 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 9-week class; 3.2 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 8-week class.
Class meets Mondays & Wednesdays from 7:00–9:00 p.m.

Communicative Grammar

Practice English grammar within a communicative environment to improve your accuracy in speaking and writing.
3.6 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 9-week class; 3.2 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 8-week class.
Class meets Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7:00–9:00 p.m.

Business Communication

Strengthen your professional English skills for success in a business environment using Harvard Business Review case studies.
3.6 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 9-week class; 3.2 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 8-week class.
Class meets Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7:00–9:00 p.m.

Business Writing

Learn to write effective, concise professional letters, memos, emails, reports, and presentations.
3.6 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 9-week class; 3.2 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 8-week class.
Class meets Mondays & Wednesdays from 7:00–9:00 p.m.

TOEFL Test Prep

Develop advanced speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in preparation for the internet-based TOEFL exam.
3.6 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 9-week class; 3.2 CEUs awarded for each successfully completed 8-week class.
Class meets Saturdays from 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
