Message from the Faculty Director

On behalf of the faculty and staff at Georgetown University, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Executive Master of Professional Studies in Emergency & Disaster Management.

Situated within the academic context of historic Georgetown Jesuit values, this one-year executive master’s degree consists of one the world’s most academically rigorous emergency and disaster management curricula. Our program follows a unique hybrid format that combines online learning and on-site residencies across the U.S. and around the world, ensuring our students receive a comprehensive and in-depth learning experience. Cohort-style enrollment empowers students to learn from the diverse experiences of their classmates. Additionally, our world-class faculty corps brings experience from both conventional emergency and disaster management agencies and traditional academic backgrounds, delivering both the theoretical and applied curricula necessary to address the complex emergency and disaster management challenges facing our society.

Graduates of our program possess a high level of strategic and critical thinking skills required for decision-making in this important field, allowing them to serve in leadership roles and to live the Georgetown phrase “people for others” daily.
