For Veterans

An Education Benefit for Those Who Bravely Serve Our Nation
Georgetown University is dedicated to making education more accessible for our nation's service members, veterans, spouses, and dependents. We are proud to announce participation in a program that provides tuition and fee benefits to eligible military students who are accepted and enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at the University and the School of Continuing Studies.

The Yellow Ribbon Program
Through the Veterans Educational Assistance Act, and specifically the Yellow Ribbon Program, qualified veterans may take courses at Georgetown without paying any tuition expenses. The Program, designed for service members, veterans, spouses, and dependents of veterans who have served in the armed forces for 36 months since Sept. 11, 2001, allows Georgetown to expand education benefits above and beyond those provided by the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. The Department of Veterans Affairs determines eligibility.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is intended to make participating private institutions more accessible to veterans who are pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. In addition to the Post-9/11 education benefits, the Department of Veterans Affairs supplements each Yellow Ribbon Program contribution from Georgetown with matching funds, giving students greater opportunities to finance their education.

To minimize delays, please apply for the Certificate of Eligibility as soon as possible through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Certificate of Eligibility Letter can be returned to:

Georgetown University Veterans Office
veteranservices@georgetown.edu
(202) 687-2708

Once the Georgetown University Veterans Office has recorded your eligibility for the Program, and you have completed the necessary paperwork each semester to receive VA education benefits and Yellow Ribbon Program benefits, the University will submit a certification to the Department of Veterans Affairs for benefits to be dispersed. More information about the certification process can be found through the Georgetown University Veterans Office.

For more information on this program and other military education benefits, please visit U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, or download our brochure, found at the top of the page.
