For Veterans

An Education Benefit for Those Who Bravely Serve Our Nation
Georgetown is dedicating more than $2 million to making education more accessible for our nation's veterans and their dependants. We are proud to announce participation in a program that provides tuition and fee benefits to qualified veterans who are accepted and enrolled at the University and the School of Continuing Studies.

The Yellow Ribbon Benefit
Through the Veterans Educational Assistance Act, and specifically the Yellow Ribbon Benefit program, qualified veterans may take courses at Georgetown without paying any tuition expenses. The program, designed for veterans or dependants of veterans who have served in the armed forces for 36 months since Sept. 11, 2001, allows Georgetown to expand education benefits above and beyond those provided by the Montgomery G.I. Bill.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is intended to make participating private institutions more accessible to veterans who are pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. More than 170 Georgetown students enrolled last year using veterans benefits. Veterans Affairs supplements each direct contribution from Georgetown with a matching benefit, giving students greater opportunities to finance their education. These benefits are in addition to any need-based financial aid packages for which the student already qualifies.

To minimize delays, please apply for the Certificate of Eligibility as soon as possible through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The form can be returned to:

Georgetown University Veterans Office
(202) 687-2708

Once Georgetown has recorded your eligibility for the program, the University will bill the Department of Veterans Affairs directly for your tuition. The program will pay for as many as 12 credits in a semester for graduate students and 15 credits in a semester for undergraduate students.
