Executive Master of Professional Studies in Global Strategic Communications

Degree Requirements

A Cohort-Based Program

Students progress through the GSC program as a cohort, participating in a series of on-site residencies and associated online coursework. The program’s hybrid format enables students to continue to work and earn their degree without career interruptions. In between residencies, students engage in distance learning, attending scheduled online class sessions and completing the rest of their studies on their own time. These online studies provide students with a deeper understanding of communications principles through webinars, online coursework, and virtual group discussions.

As a cohort-based program, students must enroll in the fall at the beginning of each academic year.

Degree Requirements & Courses

To earn a degree in this intensive one-year program, students must successfully complete all five, six-credit program courses (6 credits each; 30 credits total), including the Capstone course. The five courses feature a blend of online learning activities and on-site weeklong residencies.

Students must maintain a minimum, cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and receive a minimum grade of “B” in both the first course and the Capstone course to graduate from the GSC program.

Student Travel Requirements

Students are required to be on site for four residencies. Each residency is designed to provide students with the practical skills and knowledge they need to advance as leaders and excel in their careers. Students must make and finance their own transportation arrangements to each on-site residency. Seven nights of lodging and some meals are covered by tuition.

Students will be required to arrive no later than the evening before the day the on-site program begins and may not leave before the program ends. For example, for MPGC-500 in 2015, students should plan to arrive in Washington, D.C. no later than the evening of October 18 and leave no earlier than the evening of October 24.
