US Enrollment Eligibility for Online Programs

Georgetown University is able to offer the online format to residents of all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico for the following programs:

International Enrollment Eligibility for Online Programs

Georgetown University is not currently accepting enrollment requests for online professional certificate programs from students who are residents of the following countries unless they are U.S. citizens:

  • Canada (exception: applications are accepted from Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec)
  • China
  • Germany
  • India
  • Kenya
  • Spain
  • Taiwan
  • Cuba
  • Iran
  • North Korea
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • Ukraine (Crimea Region)

We make every effort to keep these lists up to date; however, the Enrollment Management Team will have the most current information on online enrollment from states or countries outside the District of Columbia.

Visa Support

Georgetown University cannot sponsor student visas for non-credit professional certificate programs. For more information, please see our Frequently Asked Questions.

Relocation Policy

Please be aware that students who relocate while enrolled at Georgetown University may experience a delay in registration eligibility or potentially be unable to complete their studies if they are moving to a country or state where Georgetown is not currently authorized to offer an online option for a particular program. Students who are considering relocating before or during their couse of study should contact our Enrollment Management Team at 202-687-7000 or to discuss how relocation could alter their eligibility.

Additional Information for Online Students

Degrees conferred by Georgetown University are recognized in the United States and may be recognized in other countries. Degrees and certificates conferred by Georgetown University are not officially recognized by Mexico. All international students are encouraged to research the policies pertaining to degree or certificate recognition in their home country prior to enrolling in a Georgetown program.
