What’s the forecast for cloud computing? This one’s pretty simple: The cloud is just going to get bigger and bigger as business’s technology needs expand. “The businesses are going to demand more from IT,” says David Shanker, senior vice president of information technology for the real estate firm JBG Smith. “How can you deliver applications? How quickly can you deliver applications? And are they secure?” Especially for medium-sized businesses and those that rely on technology but are not technology companies themselves, the cloud will be the answer. Here, Shanker talks with Maria Trujillo, Ph.D., program director for Georgetown University’s Master's in Information Technology Management, about recent developments in cloud computing and the outlook ahead.
