What is an interesting trend emerging in your field?
One interesting, emerging trend in hospitality is the rise of customers who expect to be “wow-ed” at the most competitive price point possible. Simply meeting the expectation is no longer enough. As a special event professional who prides himself on creating exceptional experiences for others, I am pleased to see other areas within the industry focusing on the guest experience and not just the service being provided.

What is an important skill for someone to have in your profession?
A global and cultural perspective. Cultural awareness and sensitivity play a big part in the hospitality industry. Personalized offerings based on guests, and managing a diverse workforce are extremely important. Furthermore, due to globalization, the ability to conduct and navigate business in other parts of the world are critical skills for today's hospitality leader.
