How will education in your field will change over the next decade?
Obtaining a master’s in human resources is not very common at the moment, and I believe Georgetown is ahead of its time. As human resources moves from a historically administrative field to a strategic, targeted role with a seat at the table, undergraduate and graduate degrees centered on human resources will become more commonplace.
How do you give back?
I am currently a pro bono human resources consultant at Taproot Foundation. Taproot takes volunteer professionals and places them with local non-profit organizations seeking their particular area of expertise. I love the work I am able to accomplish through Taproot, as it allows me to use my extensive human resources background to help organizations in need. Additionally, last summer I had the opportunity to attend a Habitat for Humanity Global Village trip to the Philippines. This one-month trip involved raising funds, donating, and physically building homes for Filipino families whose houses has been washed away by monsoon rains.
What is something people might not know about you?
When my sister and I were little, we had pet ducks named Beeper and Quacker!
